The H3 is HUMMER's new midsize SUV and the third model in the vehicle lineup. Based on the Chevrolet Colorado pickup platform, the H3 is designed to deliver authentic HUMMER style and off-road capability in a smaller, more fuel-efficient package.

The 2007 HUMMER H3 receives a new 242-horsepower Vortec 3.7-liter inline 5-cylinder engine with dual overhead cams and variable timing, StabiliTrak on all models, a new chrome wheel for its 33-inch tire, and Midnight Blue as a new exterior color. Joining the lineup is a new model called the H3x that was based on the H3 Street concept shown at the 2005 SEMA show. The H3x is equipped with leather seats, a six-disc changer with Monsoon sound system, chrome tube steps, a chrome appearance package that features bright roof crossbows, a chrome fuel door, a body-color grille, unique spare tire cover; tires wheels and center cap, and a brush guard. The H3x is due out later in the fall.

The H3 is based on the Chevrolet Colorado/GMC Canyon. The coarse engine provides tepid acceleration and so-so fuel economy. A 3.7-liter version arrives 2007. Off-roading is terrific, but access, visibility, and ride comfort come up short. First-year reliability has been well below average
